On Tuesday, November 4th of 2008 history was made. After a double term in the white house, the republicans lost the Presidential election to a democrat. This democrat won states that had previously always been won by the republican candidate....wait is that not what yall thought I was talking about when I said history had been made?! Oh oh yeah I see, okay, yes the first black president was elected in yesterday's election. That is amazing! Everyone had their doubts it would happen, an African-American president, well it did folks and yes we did sit and watch our country change right before our eyes as history was made.
So now that history has been made can we move on? Right now seeing as it is November 5th and we know who will be our president, it doesn't matter what color he is. What matters now is that he is a good leader and takes care of our country the best way he knows possible. Sure you may not have voted for him, I didn't, I was a strong McCain/Palin supporter, but you did vote which shows me that at least some of you do actually care about our country. If you didn't vote, you have no right to complain or celebrate, so please just sit back and watch, maybe you'll be brave enough to take a stand in the next election. I am writing this to voters; republicans, democrats, and independents alike, the choice has been made, maybe not by you but by the majority of our country, they see this man to be the most fit for the job and tasks laid out before him.
We as Americans, citizens of the UNITED States of America, must forget our opinions and the buttons we pushed on November 4th and stand behind the leader of our country. He may have ideas that you do not agree with and some of his supporters may be ignorant to the needs of our country, they may have just focused on race and solely that but he is our president. It is now his duty to do what is in the best interest of this free country we live in, ALL OF US, not just the people that voted for him, everyone. That being said, as president that is his duty, as American's our duty is to support him. So far he has made no mistakes as president, he is well educated, and as far as we can tell he is a caring family man.
So stop saying all these things about how everyone that said they were leaving the country if Obama was elected needs to leave and not talk trash if you can't back it up. Stop saying that the black people are going to take over our country. Stop believing that it was only the "poor" blacks of America that wanted him as president. The things you are saying aren't true, everyone said things during the election that they won't stand behind, sadly that is the nature of Americans. Barack Obama is now our president and we should support him because of that, not because of his race but because America, and I believe God, had a plan and saw fit to make him our next president. Yes things are going to change, things always do when a new man is elected as President. By supporting our president you aren't necessarily supporting the man himself, you are supporting our county. Right now with the shape our country is in, mentally, physically, financially, we need to support her, no matter what. This isn't a big step for blacks, this is a big step for America, get it right.
We are the UNITED States of America!
